Halloween!

We're doing monsters this week at the BlueSky challenge. Classic monsters....the Phantom of the opera by Basil Gogos was always a favorite. He's my inspiration for this.....those eyes and those teeth! Rad.

these are some characters i'm working on for a side project. a sweet modeler at work asked me if i was interested and i said "ppsshhh....yeah!" Anyways, I'll post more about it once the ball gets rollin'.

johny, joe, and tony started up the figure drawing class here at blue sky...with the help of dice who's nice. thank their souls because it has been a while. figure drawing is probably the one and only practice that has helped my drawing by leaps and bounds.

I was sitting in a cafe in Lake Tahoe and a friend suggested to draw a rooster with a pineapple and a gun...here's what i came up with.



Here are a few of the sketch challenges that go on at work. Our favorite Pixar character... I dug deep but the little kid on the trike in the incredibles almost made me pee.

Fairy Tales was the topic for the following week. There were soo many to choose from so I made my own. "The Blue Fairy and the Golden Nippled Troll." It's about a fairy who falls in love with a troll. Other than obvious reasons they get through the hurdles of society and live happily ever after......ah, fairy tales. I also put up a before and after...first a quick sketch and then I hit the finish button in photoshop.

here are some studies i did a few nights ago. i got home and was supposed to go to sleep but the art bug bit me and i couldn't resist. i still want to scan some drawings and post them but haven't gotten to it...keep posted...illegal aliens?

"the crew"

Speechless. That's all I can do (or not do) when I see the book "the crew" put together. These guys are such a huge inspiration and they deserve to sell a gah-bazillion copies of this book. All I can do is sit back and drool...learn as much as I can...and then drool some more. "Out of Picture" is the name of the book and $25 bucks is the price... which I would pay twice, maybe three times more for. It's that off the hook.

Jake (pronounced Hack-eh) Parker was drawing a superman and asked me to do one. I figured I'm pretty stoked about the movie coming soon, never really done a superman...so I decided to give it a shot. Here's my interpretation. It's my first pass at the color so I might go a different route.

Here are a few pics of recent events in my life. My sisters visited, the sunset from the staten island ferry, a mural in nolita, and this really cool shoe. A bit smelly but still kind of inspiring.

hey hey

It's been a while...I've been sketching, painting, and just getting more familiar with the city. Central Park, Cafe Habana (best cuban sandwich I've had), Rialto (best mojito!), meeting new people and playing darts. It's five all baby...five all!

The trains continue to amaze me every time I get on...here are some sketches from my newest sketchbook. peace.

sunday was good

So my new place finally felt like I actually lived their yesterday. I did laundry, did some dishes, had a couch to relax on, and I finally got my brushes wet...finally. A sketch inspired this painting but most of it was "going with the flow". Hope you dig.
