this piccolo ain't no half sized flute. he's a bad bad man who originates from the dragon clan. he kicks some serious butt in the hugely popular series, dragon ball z. i had no clue about the show/manga until now (tmnt, he-man, thundercats) but thanks to QPop and their tribute art show to Akira Toriyama, i did some homework and created a couple of pieces for the show. the piece above (piccolo is my favorite character) and another of a young goku. go check out the show this saturday the 15th

ape says 'come out!' i'll have the remaining copies of 'guillermo guacamole' my second sketchbook which i never posted online. this past year has been busy (but good to me) so i decided holding off on it and selling them in person. i'll also have a few new prints and that's pretty much it... keeping it simple. oh and i'll have a special guest with me on sat so make sure and stop by. you wont regret it :)

my magic school

super delighted to share work from a recent project with the folks over at StoryBots (of jib-jab). i illustrated their book this month, 'my magic school' and it stars you're kid (or you)! i know right!? pretty cool... and lots o' fun working on this. any-who, sign up and enjoy the magic school madness :)

The Animation Collaborative

Guys! I'm super excited to be teaching Character Design at The Animation Collaborative this spring right here in the bay area (Emeryville). This place produces nothing but quality instruction and solid student work so I look forward to contributing what I know and in return absorbing. I've had the opportunity to visit as a guest lecturer in the past so I can't wait to delve in a bit deeper. Go apply and maybe I'll see you in April :P

12 o'clock boys

recently watched '12 o'clock boys' and was instantly addicted to the characters, the pictures, and the sounds of this beautiful film. while some will write these kids off for their choice in extracurricular activities i champion and choose to see them as passionate, kids... a rare trait at any age, especially adolescence in my experience.

walking away inspired i imagined what a picture book might look like for the 12 o'clock boys. above is what i came up with. featuring of course 'pug', the little man with a big heart and some bigger balls. 'this one right here... i don't know where he came from' - pug's momma
